Pet Friendly Ucluelet Accommodations
Welcome to our pet friendly Ucluelet accommodations at Whiskey Landing. Located on the waterfront in the heart of Ucluelet BC, Whiskey Landing was designed and constructed as a tribute to the local culture and the west coast’s natural beauty. The building is an artwork in its self, with a strong influence on native cedar, rock and glass.
View eagles, sea-lions, bear, deer and the occasional orca from the comfort of your own window. The marina is literally right next door and is home to several local adventure guides who provide direct access to the magnificent open waters of the west coast with wildlife tours, fishing charters, eco tours, kayaking and whale watching tours as well as the broken island group tours.
Our guest suites are pet friendly so, your whole family can enjoy a fun filled vacation because dogs are family too, aren’t they? There are so many walks for you and your 4 legged friend to explore.
A little of bit history behind the naming of the Whiskey Landing Dock. The wharf is called Whiskey Dock because it is the closest moorage to a pub. Fishermen and loggers were paid in cash so the closest tavern to this dock was a lively place! There are also colourful tales about rum running from this harbour. The cannon in front of the aquarium was raised from a government patrol boat that chased smugglers during prohibition.

Hiking the Outdoors
One of the most recommended hikes, is The Wild Pacific Trail. This 7-phase trail system along the West Coast’s rugged cliffs and shoreline has a spectacular shoreline panoramas and hike through ancient cedar and spruce-filled forest.
Storm Watching
Come witness Storm Watching on the West Coast of Canada along the top rated Wild Pacific Trail! Nothing is more exhilarating than the fury of the wind, rain and waves during a winter storm. The raw power of nature has become a fascinating draw for tourists from around the world to Ucluelet.
The best time for storm watching is November through March, as gale force winds tear along the coast at over 70km an hour (appx 45mph). The Ucluelet region gets over 4 meters of rain a year (most during this season). Impressive heavy waves pound the beaches, hitting the rocks and sending white sea spray high into the air. Please be sure to pack for all weather conditions (Gortex is always in vogue) and note that just as likely you will have rain, the coastal weather will change quickly and you can find yourself in pure sun walking along a beach over the winter season.
Surfing the Pacific
The water is a cool, yet fairly constant 10°C/50°F, making surfing a year-round activity, with some of the best rides being caught during the winter when the surf is definitely up with a strong, fairly consistent swell. A wetsuit is essential, along with recommended booties, gloves and a hood if you want to spend quality time in the water.
George Fraser Island
George Fraser was an avid horticulturist originally hailing from Scotland. He ended up in the remote fishing village of Ucluelet in 1894 where he bought 236 acres of land to start up his nursery. He is most famously known for hybridizing plants. Today, you can visit Fraser Lane to view his legacy at George Fraser Memorial Gardens.
